Willian Speaks on Barkley’s penalty miss against Valencia
Chelsea midfielder, Willian, revealed on Tuesday that he was asking for the key punishment that Ross Barkley failed to transform in his 1-0 loss to Valencia in the Champions League.
Barkley skimmed his attempt with the scoreline at 1-0 off the top of the crossbar in the 87th minute.
After a discussion with starters Willian and Jorginho, the England midfielder was launched from the bench seven minutes ago and grabbed the ball.
Barkley was later disclosed by Blues boss Frank Lampard as the designated penalty taker.
But Willian acknowledges that he hoped the opportunity would be entrusted.
“He was confident to bring it, and I requested to take it as well.
“But he was sure. He was finally missing it. That might happen to me or any other player, like Jorginho, who takes the penalties as well.
“It’s essential for him to keep his head up. You win together when you win, and when you lose, you also lose together, “Willian told journalists.
