Breaking: Tribunal endorses Gov. Abiodun’s Election

Sitting in Ogun State on Saturday, September 14, the governorship election petition court rejected the petition lodged by Hon Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) against the All Progressive Congress (APC) Gov Dapo Abiodun’s election.

The court ruled that Akinlade and the APM failed to demonstrate that the election was marred by irregularities beyond reasonable doubt.

The tribunal led by Yusuf Halilu stated that the petitioners erred in their burden of evidence by calling only 35 witnesses out of more than 1000 pilling units where they claimed non-compliance with the election law.

The tribunal held that the witnesses of the petitioners admitted that, without being compelled to do so, they signed copies of result sheets at their various units. That, he said, punctured the petitioners ‘ case.

Halilu claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was correct to declare the election winner to Abiodun.
